How Much Does TikTok Shop Take?

Selling on TikTok Shop is easy to start, but the fees aren't obvious. Here's what TikTok Shop takes from each sale, in plain terms.

Last Updated: June 2026

Reviewed for current platform fees and pricing rules.

The two main fees

TikTok Shop (US) charges two things on each sale: a commission based on your product category (often around 8%, lower for some categories like books and electronics), and a payment transaction fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per order.

The new-seller discount

New sellers often get a reduced commission rate for their first 90 days. It's a nice head start, but don't price your products around it, because the normal rate kicks in after the promo ends.

A worked example

You sell an item for $25. Commission (8%) = $2.00. Transaction fee (2.9% + $0.30) = $1.03. Total fees about $3.03, roughly 12% of the price. If the item cost you $8 to make and ship, your profit is about $13.97.

The fees that catch sellers out

The flat $0.30 hurts most on cheap items. Free-shipping requirements can mean you absorb shipping. And category commission varies, so check yours.

Always check your current rate

TikTok Shop changes its fees and runs promotions, and rates vary by category and country. Confirm your current rate in TikTok Shop Seller Center before you price.
