Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about fees, pricing, and how our calculators work.

What Etsy fees are included?
Our Etsy calculators account for the three main fees on every sale: the listing fee (typically $0.20 per item), the transaction fee (around 6.5% of the item price plus any shipping you charge), and payment processing (roughly 3% plus a small flat fee in the US). You can adjust each rate to match your shop's country and current fee statement.
Does this calculator include shipping costs?
Yes — where relevant, you can enter both the shipping you charge the buyer and your actual shipping cost. The difference is factored into your profit, and Etsy's transaction and processing fees are applied to the shipping you charge, since Etsy charges fees on that amount too.
What is profit margin?
Profit margin is your profit expressed as a percentage of the sale price. If an item sells for $30 and you keep $12 after all costs and fees, your margin is 40%. Margin lets you compare products fairly even when their prices differ.
Can I use this calculator for Print-on-Demand products?
Yes. For print-on-demand, enter your supplier's base cost (Printify, Printful, etc.) as the product cost and add the platform and processing fees for wherever you sell. The dedicated Print-on-Demand Profit Calculator is built specifically for this and includes base cost, shipping, fees, and ad spend.
Are the pricing recommendations guaranteed?
No. All results are estimates to help you plan. Your actual fees, shipping, taxes, refunds, discounts, and ad costs vary by product, location, and platform, and marketplace fees change over time. Always verify against your current fee statements before setting final prices.
